USB 1.1 & 2.0
USB stands for Universal Serial Bus and is the standard plug format to connect hardware devices like webcams, headsets and printers to a computer.
Although there are different types of connector plugs that connect to the hardware, the connector that interfaces with the computer is a standard format making it easier to connect different types of hardware to the same socket.
The difference between USB 1.0 and 2.0 standards is the speed at which data is passed from the hardware device to the computer.
- USB 1.0 & 12 Megabits per second.
- USB 2.0 & 480 Megabits per second.
These are the set standards, however, actual speeds may vary depending on the hardware and computer.
When connecting a USB device to your computer it should automatically detect the device; if it does not you may have to install software from a CD or from the internet to get it working. We recommend that you always check the manual of the device that you are using.
